Dr. Pallister is the academic fieldwork coordinator and Associate Professor for Maria College’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program. He is a Registered/Licensed occupational therapist and has practiced clinically and academically for over 25 years.
Prior to becoming an occupational therapist, he worked for 10 years in a management capacity for John J. Doody, and Sons of Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY. As an occupational therapist, Dr. Pallister’s clinical work primarily focused on adult/older adult rehabilitation and ergonomic work injury prevention and wellness. An occupational therapy educator for 17 years his faculty appointments have included those as academic fieldwork coordinator and program director.
His professional and scholarly interests include best practices in occupational therapy online education; legal, legislative and policy issues related to occupational therapy practice and education; and professional advocacy. He has published in the area of ergonomics and presented on various topics at the national and state levels. He has been an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Florida Occupational Therapy Association, and various fieldwork consortiums.
Dr. Pallister strongly values the critical role that clinical education plays not only for occupational therapy students but fieldwork educators and their organizations, the MSOT Program, the College, and the profession. Moreover, he views Maria College’s commitment to opportunity education as an ideal context to further enhance fieldwork educational practices.
