  • Medication Room

  • Two Skills Labs

  • Simulation Suite

  • Two Debriefing Classrooms

This modern space has been specifically built to foster the development of critical thinking skills and practical application of nursing theory. Features of the New Simulation Lab

Students practicing clinical skills in Maria College’s state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Lab designed to enhance hands-on learning and NCLEX-RN readiness.

Skills Labs

The new facility includes two well-equipped skills labs, designed to help novice nursing students develop foundational skills. These labs are furnished with advanced manikins, supplies, and Workstations on Wheels (WOWS) that simulate documentation and medication administration. The addition of a second skills lab offers students more opportunities for independent practice and skill development, essential to their educational journey.

Simulation Suite

The Simulation Suite is a central feature of the lab, where students can apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios in a controlled, risk-free environment. The suite is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a control room for faculty with two-way viewing and videotaping capabilities. Students will work with a family of manikins, including those representing adults, infants, children, and even a birthing manikin. These manikins can be programmed to simulate a variety of medical situations, enabling students to experience diverse patient care scenarios.

Debriefing Classrooms

After each simulation, students will have the opportunity to gather in the debriefing classrooms. These spaces are designed for reflection, discussion, and peer interaction, allowing students to explore the outcomes of their simulations and gain deeper insights into their learning experiences.

Advancing Nursing Education

Maria College has a long-standing tradition of producing highly skilled and compassionate nurses. This new Nursing Simulation Lab is an integral part of our commitment to excellence in nursing education. The new lab will help enhance critical thinking and practical skills, both of which are vital for success in the nursing profession. The lab is designed to provide students with hands-on experiences that will help them excel in the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses® (NCLEX-RN).

Maria College nursing graduates consistently achieve above-average NCLEX-RN pass rates, with the 2023 pass rate at an impressive 91%. This state-of-the-art facility is a key resource in helping students continue to achieve outstanding exam outcomes and ensuring they are well-prepared for their careers as registered nurses.

Part of a Larger Expansion

The McAuley building renovation is part of a nearly $4 million expansion of Maria College’s health professions programs. This initiative aims to address both structural needs and capacity limitations across campus buildings while providing increased opportunities for students to meet New York State nursing requirements. The expansion is supported by a $250,000 performance-based capital grant from Empire State Development (ESD).
