$150,000 Being Invested to Support Nursing Education
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy joined with representatives of the Innovation Partnership—a joint effort between Albany County and MVP Health Care—to announce their support of the Maria College Community Clinic.
Maria College has partnered with Albany Medical Health System and Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region to launch a new community resource clinic within Albany Medical Center, located adjacent to the emergency department. The clinic aims to alleviate pressure on Albany Med’s emergency room by offering accessible healthcare services to the community, particularly underserved and vulnerable populations. It will also provide valuable learning opportunities for future healthcare professionals.
Albany County has committed a grant of $75,000 to support this project with an additional $75,000 in funding being provided by the Innovation Partnership for a total investment of $150,000. The Innovation Partnership, which is a collaboration between Albany County and MVP Health Care is focused on improving the overall health and vitality of the surrounding community
“I would like to thank MVP Health Care for their matching funds through the Innovation Partnership for this important project. Our healthcare system is the backbone of our communities, and at the heart of that system is our dedicated nurses. More training opportunities means more individuals can enter the field, reducing burnout among existing nurses and improving patient outcomes. These funds will ensure that aspiring nurses in our community have the support and training they need to succeed,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy.
“At MVP Health Care, our mission is to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said MVP Health Care’s President, Dr. Richard Dal Col. “Together with Albany County, we are proud to support the Maria College Community Clinic with this significant investment in nursing education and the future of care delivery in the Capital Region. We are confident that this partnership will enhance access to timely care and cultivate the next generation of health care professionals.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Albany County and MVP Health Care for their substantial support in making the Maria College Community Clinic a reality. Their commitment to improving the health and well-being of our community ensures that this clinic will be a cornerstone of care for those who need it most, while also creating invaluable learning opportunities for the Andrea Lewis Siek School of Nursing students and faculty. This partnership represents a step forward in building a healthier community in the spirit of our founders the Sisters of Mercy,” said Maria College President Dr. Lynn Ortale
The nurse-managed clinic will offer primary care, chronic disease management, pediatric care, behavioral health services, geriatric support, and social services. Additional services may include occupational therapy and psychology.
