Dr. David Hoffman has been appointed the Associate Dean for Academic Initiatives at Maria College. Dr. Hoffman, who holds a Doctorate in Bioethics with a concentration in Health Ethics and Policy (DPS) from Albany Medical College, will also continue in his role as Associate Professor for Ethics and Health Policy at Maria.
In his new role as Associate Dean for Academic Initiatives, Dr. Hoffman will work to strengthen and contribute to Maria College’s partnerships with national organizations, partner non-profits, academic institutions, and public health organizations. This role will help Maria College continue to advance scholarship and academic offerings in the health sciences fields. Dr. Hoffman has been widely published in the areas of healthcare policy, chronic disease management, and Alzheimers disease and aging, and is active at the local and national levels in these fields. On Campus, Dr. Hoffman will support academic leadership and the continued vertical growth of academic programs, especially with the health related majors.
In addition to his duties at Maria College, Dr. Hoffman holds positions as a Clinical Professor at the UAlbany School of Public Health and Adjunct Asst. Professor at Albany Medical College. He is also Senior Advisor at Cornerstone Government Affairs and has prior experience as a consultant to National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at CDC, and Faculty to the National Governor’s Association Health Policy Academy. Dr. Hoffman Chairs the Policy Committee, National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, a U.S. national membership organization and is a Board Member of the ProVention Health Foundation. He has served on numerous State and Federal Advisory groups and regularly presents at major conferences throughout the country. Prior to his appointments at Maria College, Dr. Hoffman directed the Bureau of Community Integration and Alzheimer ’s Disease at the New York State Department of Health.
