Albany, N.Y. (April 3, 2025) – Maria College has partnered with Teresian House to support the educational and career advancement of its nursing staff.
The collaboration offers Teresian House employees an accelerated pathway to achieve their nursing goals, starting with the Practical Nurse Certificate (PNC) program at Maria College, which enables CNAs to become LPNs in just 16 months. Afterward, they can transition into the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program to become RNs in one more year. In addition, under New York BSN in 10 law, current RNs can complete an accelerated or part-time, fully online RN-BS Degree in Nursing Completion Program through Maria College.
“At Teresian House, we are deeply committed to investing in our staff’s future,” said Teresian House Administrator Frank Yeboah. “Working with Maria College will empower our nursing professionals to advance their careers and, in turn, provide even better care to our residents. We are pleased to collaborate with an institution that shares our dedication to excellence and compassionate service.”
“This initiative with Teresian House aligns with our shared commitment to caring for and supporting the communities we serve,” added Dr. Lynn Ortale, president, Maria College. “Both the Sisters of Mercy and the Carmelite Sisters founded our institutions with a deep belief in the value of education and compassionate service. By offering our educational programs to Teresian House employees, we are not only fostering their academic growth, but also advancing our collective mission of service and care for others.”
The collaboration will launch in the fall of 2025, with the first cohort of Teresian House staff beginning their studies. To accommodate the schedules of busy healthcare professionals, Maria College will offer a mix of online and in-person courses.
In addition to educational programs, Teresian House will host Maria College admissions information sessions. The organization will also support the recruitment of Maria College graduates for adjunct clinical faculty positions. To help reduce financial barriers to education, Teresian House employees will have access to scholarships and funding opportunities.
“This collaboration is a great example of how our shared values and missions come together,” said Dr. Wendy Trevor, vice president for strategic innovation and partnerships at Maria College. “We are excited to work with Teresian House to provide their dedicated staff with the tools they need to advance their careers and continue offering high-quality care through flexible programs at Maria College’s state-of-the-art nursing facilities.”
