FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Maria College launches online RN-BS Degree in Nursing Completion program
Flexible program option meets community need for RN baccalaureate education

Albany, NY – A leading provider of nursing education, Maria College is meeting the community’s need for qualified nurses by adding an option for students to enroll in its highly regarded RN-Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Nursing Completion program in a fully online format.

Enrollment is now open for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters in the 12-month, full-time, online RN-BS Degree in Nursing Completion program. This option allows Registered Nurses the flexibility to complete their education quickly with a schedule that fits their life. Additionally, the program offers the dynamic online support that students have come to expect from traditional Maria College programs.

“Maria College is proud to announce the launch of our first fully online program, and one that will benefit the larger community during a time where highly educated nurses are in strong demand,” said President Dr. Thomas J. Gamble. “As a provider of nursing education for more than 64 years with strong ties to healthcare employers in the Capital Region and beyond, we pride ourselves on offering flexible scheduling and support options for students of all starting points. Maria’s online RN-BS Degree in Nursing Completion program is a natural next step for our college as we continue to grow in areas, like nursing, where we excel.”

The program instills the importance of caring and compassionate service to others in alignment with Maria College’s core values. It is designed to support each individual student’s professional goals and vision while being mindful of healthcare industry trends and vulnerable populations. Studying in a supportive learning community, students will cultivate new experiences in areas such as evidence-based practice, health care policy and advocacy, community nursing, and nursing leadership.

The asynchronous learning model allows students to complete lectures and coursework on their own time. Students will use state-of-the art virtual technology, such as vSim™ and Shadow Health™ designed to simulate real nursing scenarios.

“The technology allows students to interact with patients in a safe, realistic environment,” said Program Director Dr. Katie Lee. “Students can refine their nursing skills, which ultimately leads to more confident and competent leaders in healthcare.”

In addition to the asynchronous learning model for lectures and assignments, students will receive 90 hours of clinical experience. The clinical hours are divided evenly between two courses. Students receive support in finding clinical placements and are paired with a master’s prepared nurse for leadership experience.
