Joseph Aklassou-gana, originally from Ivory Coast, West Africa, pursues his education goal of becoming a nurse at Maria College. His passion to pursue a nursing vocation grew from the health care challenges difficulties and struggles he witnessed in West Africa. He describes how an AAS in Nursing from Maria would help him make a difference. Someday he hopes to return to West Africa and help vulnerable individuals. This past year (2018), Joseph was honored with the Vanguard Award.
