ACEN peer review team to recommend continued accreditation for Nursing, AAS Program

On October 14, the peer review team for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) announced it will provide an initial recommendation of “Continued Accreditation” for Maria College’s AAS in nursing program.

The team concluded that, from their perspective, Maria College is compliant with the criteria for all six standards for continued accreditation, and outlined areas for improvement. Their recommendation was based on a self-study and supporting evidence prepared by the nursing department in collaboration with members of the college community, as well as participation from students, staff, faculty, and communities of interest during the visit.

Maria College will receive a final report from the peer review team in eight weeks. A hearing with the ACEN will then take place in January 2022, followed by a hearing with the ACEN Board of Commissioners in March 2022. If officially granted by the Board of Commissioners, the duration of continuing accreditation is eight years. We will communicate the final status upon receipt.

We would like to thank the students, faculty, and staff who provided feedback to the team, assisted with the study, or helped to coordinate the review.
