UPDATE 4:40pm: Maria College has made contact will all of our clinical students and faculty members scheduled to be at Albany Medical Center at the time of this incident, and has confirmed that all are unharmed.
Dear Maria Community,
Maria College received a call from Albany Medical Center around 3pm today, Monday, March 27, informing the College that the hospital is currently in lock down due to a “Code Silver,” or an armed assailant alert. Albany Medical Center is a clinical site for Maria College students and faculty. Maria College is actively working to make contact with all clinical students and faculty scheduled to be at the hospital at this time.
Maria College will continue to keep all campus entrances locked, per our regular security protocols. As an added security measure, the campus and all College offices will be closing at 4pm today. All classes this evening will be conducted remotely, and students scheduled to have class this evening should contact their faculty member for additional information.
IMPORTANT – Should any member of the Maria College community receive a call from the media regarding the situation, please direct them to Director of Communications Erin Clary at eclary@mariacollege.edu or 518-588-5802.
The College will be providing counseling services to any student or staff that may require services. Please contact Senior Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Life Dr. Wendy Trevor with questions about counseling at 518-861-2599 or wtrevor@mariacollege.edu.
