Maria College Ranks Nationally: Most Affordable Small College

College Ranking

ALBANY, NY—Maria College is recognized nationally in a Top 100 ranking of small colleges east of the Mississippi for its great value and affordability.

The selection was limited to traditional, four-year colleges east of the Mississippi with 4,000 students or less; more than 400 colleges met this criteria and qualified.  Based upon a comparison of each college’s annual tuition and fees with an average financial aid package per student (“net price”*), the list was then narrowed to 100, with one being the most affordable; Maria College is distinguished in the results as a New York State College in the upper one-third tier or most affordable range.

Maria College is working hard to make higher education accessible for traditional and non-traditional students, according to Maria College President, Dr. Lea A. Johnson.  She states, “We are very proud of our ability to offer not only affordable bachelor and associate degree programs, but also majors that are relevant to employers and meet the Region’s market place needs.  A survey of our 2014 graduates revealed a 99% placement rate for those entering the work place or continuing their education.”

In a time when students and families are struggling to pay for higher education, in an economy of escalating costs, Maria College fills a valuable niche in the Region, New York State and nationally.  Johnson states, “This survey demonstrates Maria’s ability to offer a private college education at the lowest annual net price*.  In addition to providing higher education consumers with a lower cost of entry to achieve their dreams at a high return on investment, we are also fulfilling our mission by educating students to serve others.”  The College offers degrees in allied health, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, paralegal, liberal arts and management.

*”Net Price” refers to an adjusted price that considers annual tuition costs and added fees, as well as the average financial aid package per student.
