They say that word of mouth is the best advertising, and in Arabia Hunter’s case, this holds true. In 2019, Arabia, a current Pediatric Surgery LPN at Albany Medical Center, began classes in Maria College’s Nursing Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree program based on a colleague’s encouragement.
“She said, ‘Come on, Arabia – I applied and you have to, too! You’ve been trying so hard to accomplish this goal and you can get there with Maria.’”
What she found was that in addition to Maria’s high NCLEX-RN® first-time pass rate and highly-regarded clinical experience, the support from both the College and the faculty made Maria College the choice for her.
“The faculty and staff make you feel welcomed and provide a family-like, caring environment. They understand your struggles and work with you to make you successful.”
Arabia is a Renaissance Scholarship recipient, a program that provides financial assistance and personalized support for eligible residents of the Capital District pursuing a college degree to become a nurse or other healthcare professional.
“The Renaissance Scholars and Opportunity Programs have benefited my educational and career goals. By attending tutoring services, I have improved my test scores and identified my strengths and weakness in studying.”
Arabia, who is planning to graduate this year, said she, too, would recommend Maria College to anyone looking to start or expand their education in nursing.
“Maria College will open the door for you to make a positive impact in nursing when you graduate.”
