- Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy EducationThe Occupational Therapy program (Masters degree) is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).The Occupational Therapy Assistant program has been granted probationary Accreditation-Inactive status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). This status indicates that the program is not currently enrolling new students and does not plan to enroll new students in the future. While the program remains on Accreditation-Inactive status, graduates of the program will continue to be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this examination, individuals will be recognized as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licensure is generally based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.
