After successful completion of this examination, individuals will be recognized as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licensure is generally based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Please note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or obtain state licensure.
