Some students who are accepted to Maria College and wish to enter a specific program are lacking pre-requisites. The Office of Admission accepts these students to the College as, General Studies, with an intent to change their status. The goal is to take classes, normally over the course of a year, as a matriculated student in order to fulfill the pre-requisites of the desired academic program.
Once enrolled at the College, the student is assisted by their assigned academic advisor to prepare a plan of studies and preparation in completing the required prerequisites.
Change of Status Process:
Any student enrolled in, General Studies, who intends to change majors to the Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or the Practical Nurse Certificate (LPN), must submit a Change of Status (COS) form with the Academic Registration Manager prior to the following dates:
Practical Nurse Certificate (LPN): November 20, 2023
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (RN): March 1, 2024
Pre-Requisites:
Students enrolled in General Studies who intend to enroll in Nursing or the Practical Nursing, are expected to earn a “C” or better in all course work during the academic year. Acceptance to the Associate degree nursing Program or Practical nurse Certificate will require minimum of a 2.5 GPA (RN); 2.0 PNC and acceptable TEAS test scores.
