At Maria College, we review each candidate as an individual.
The SAT or ACT exam is an admission requirement for a current high school student. Students who did not take the SAT/ACT will be placed in both MAT-100 and ENG-100. Students with previous college experiences are not required to take the SAT or ACT.
There is no minimum required SAT score, but students who score below a 480 on the Critical Reading will not meet our English pre-req, and therefore will be placed in ENG100–Basic Language Skills. If a student scores below a 490 on the Math section they will not meet our Math pre-req and will be placed in MAT100–Basic Math Skills. Students interested in direct acceptance into the A.A.S. Nursing program must score a 500 on the Critical Reading section, 520 on the Math section, and a 490 on the Writing section.
There is no minimum required ACT score, but students who score below a 21 on the English/Writing will not meet our English pre-req, and therefore will be placed in ENG100–Basic Language Skills. If a student scores below a 21 on the Math section they will not meet our Math pre-req and will be placed in MAT100–Basic Math Skills.
The Test of Essential Academic Skills VI is a multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage. The TEAS VI exam is required of all applicants who are applying for direct entry into the A.A.S. Nursing program or Practical Nurse Certificate program. Please note that High School applicants can substitute their SAT scores for tthe TEAS VI exam scores. The required scores are as follows:
